New School Year, Continuing Campaign…

Remaining players, your information is below, please be patient and read through anyways.

For my new players:
First, welcome. I am Chad, the Dungeon Master. I teach Grade 3, and we will be playing in my room (UES 304). I am bribable with snacks.

My game is family friendly. If there is something you do not want in the game, feel free to let me know. The kind of things I do not allow from my players (And won’t have my BBEG) to do are:

  • Mass Murder of innocents. – If this happens, it is background information, and not detailed or graphic. Players, not allowed ever. (No burning orphanages)
  • No Murder Hobos – Don’t go murdering people for fun.
  • No adult bedroom behavior – Voluntary or otherwise, no. just no.

My list is not large. But for me, this is a way to escape into fantasy, and I enjoy epic adventure fantasy, and that is what we have been mostly playing. We have funny situations, we had a rampaging bear (druid), and yes, violence. But there is a distinction for us between the good guys and the bad guys. a clear distinction.

We have been playing in the World of Mystara (Kinda). I chose this because I love this world. Ok we started in Mystara, and then it gets complicated. But either way, Mystara is our basis. Races and classes from Mystara are slightly different from Forgotten Realms, or GreyHawk (The default settings for 5E, and 4e respectively). but some basics for you.

Mystara Races & Class options are available in the “Mystara Player’s Guide” (Ask you DM For this file.)
The characters are currently level 6, so please feel free to make a Character of that level, but again contact me about ideas. Most likely I will have no problem with a character idea, but will have to figure out how to bring you in.

If you are unsure how to make a character, or do not have any ideas, also feel free to contact me, I will let you peruse my collection of pre-generated characters, and previous NPCs you could take over.

I will be posting NPC diaries here sporadically, which you may read, and it may give insight into what is happening, and give clues you may have missed.
We do use roll20 periodically, but more so I can see everyone’s character sheet, and we can all easily find the details of the Magic Items we collect. (Most are Unique).

Now for my returning players

Welcome back!

I forgot to give EXP at the end of the season, so please everyone change your XP total to 17,650 (That means about 2500XP from the last couple of games)

Starting this Season, I will be giving “Inspiration Coins” to players, so you have a reminder that you can use them. I will start with everyone getting one, Please keep them with your character sheet. At the end of each adventure (Which for us is 2 or 3 sessions) I will pass them out again, or I may give some in the middle of an adventure for cool stuff. (Which I know I am bad for giving out so I hope the coins will remind me.)

My Room has moved to UES 304. My old room will become the Orchestra room. Same floor, opposite end of the Hall, next to the elevator. (3B this year).

I hope everyone has had a great holiday and I am excited to start up again. I talked to each of you about ideas you would like implemented and I will do my best to add these elements in.

I added the Magic Item descriptions to the Roll20 account, and after sending in the Wechat I will try to keep that updated. (I am paying for the account, and not using it for anything right now….)

Life Update 2023

So you may have noticed I have been using my blog here to keep an updated journal of a fictitious character from my Dungeons & Dragons game. It is a convenient spot to do this. I will be continuing to do this, at least once a week here, but I don’t want to just do that.

I spent the last couple of days going back through my older posts and putting them into categories, as I had 100 posts in the “Uncategorized” group, and that seemed odd to me, so I organized them.

Tomorrow, I go back to work, as we have been on vacation for the last 7 weeks. This was an attempt by the school to accommodate students and teachers who might be traveling abroad during the winter break. When the calendar was decided at the beginning of the year, we were all still under a semi-lockdown.

We needed daily or bi-daily Nucleic Acid Tests, just to enter the school, this evidence was also required to enter supermarkets, restaurants, or pretty much anywhere. We migrated to online classes in Mid-November, and so pretty much everyone was shocked when in January it was announced to just open everything up.

No more tests to enter places, no more vaccines mandates, or checking for health to go to supermarkets, travel, or anything. No more quarantine. quite a few teachers took that as a sign to go home for the holiday, where they had originally planned to stay due to fears of quarantine when they returned. But what this meant for the holiday was, that we now had a super long winter break, and the original reason for it was made moot.

Now when I say super long vacation, it really is just a combination of 3 separate holidays we would have had normally. Normally we would get a Christmas break, a Chinese New Year’s break and a Spring break, in December, February and April respectively. Now we get the one massive one, and no big breaks for the rest of the year. Again, great idea at the time, but made moot by the last-minute change in covid-climate.

I am quite happy that everything is opening and recovering. But it will be a long second semester which may be harsh on the kids. I hope that everything works out.
