The collection

pre Touch-up copy of picture WTF

A long time ago I fell in love with the Superhero culture. I loved the psychology behind the people who felt obligated to help the world, even if it meant harm to themselves. This love started as a comic book collection, but I loved the live interpretations of the characters. So I told my good friends that I would collect live action Superheroes.

Over the years I had made quite the collection (much to my wife’s dismay) I had folders and folders of DVDs of Supers from around the world. I had American Supers (The 2nd largest group were from America), Canadian Supers, Japanese Supers, Filippino Supers, Chinese Supers, Korean Supers, Supers from anywhere I could get them. It was a glorious sight to see.

When we moved to Canada, it was decided that the collection would be too big to bring. So Genius me I attempted to Digitize it. I bought a Terabyte hard drive for the collection (Which turned out to be way too small) and a 2 Terabyte for family files like pictures, home videos, backups and the like (Which turned out to be way too big)

Well with my luck the 1 terabyte crashed, and about 1/2 of the files were damaged, and I have been spending my time trying to recover files from it to transfer to the 2 T drive.

So now you all know what to get me for Christmas. DVDs of Superheroes from your country (If they have no English Dubs or Subs that’s fine, I know where to get Fan Subbed Versions, but If I’m collecting I’d prefer to have the original to show that it is paid for before burning the subbed off the internet.

The Picture above I drew 10 years ago during one of my depressed periods I had quite frequently at that time. It seems to sum up how I felt when The 1 T Drive Crashed.

Educational Systems, Which is the right way to go?

First a file: PowerPoint-IconPowerPoint-Icon This is the “Lost in Space” classroom PPT Game a previous co-worker named Leah Pang started, from a file I had made, and then I finished it yesterday. First is pptx file and the second is the ppsx file)

Recently I have had a new student join my tutoring class from mainland China, and at first it seemed a bit odd. Here was this 14 year old girl, just arrived in Canada, and her main complain was…. that her teachers at school here were not giving her any homework. She arrives at my class and immediately asks me to assign 20 pages of homework. ( I did give her a pile, but I don’t know how many pages). I sat down and had a chat with her and my other student that was in the class, and explained that Here in Canada, we prefer not to give a lot of workbook work, and instead prefer to find was for students to use the material practically. That was not good for her.

After class I remembered my frustrations from when my son was in school in China. He was getting a lot of workbook homework daily, but the teachers did not seem to mark it. (Or maybe he was not passing the books in, I don’t know) As a grade 1 student he was getting a whole new math workbook weekly. He seemed to be the only student having difficulties with this. Now he has returned to Canada and I can see easily that my son is having difficulty understanding the attitude of the other students and making friends in his grade 2 class.

As a teacher and a father I am a firm believer in practice makes perfect, but I believe doing makes the master.

STORY: For your enjoyment today I put up the prologue of Aetolus’ Story. Aetolus’ Story is a re write I did a while ago of the Atlantis Legend. I would like you to decide which Introduction you like better, and I will keep the more popular one and incorporate the important factors into the survivor.

Art: I post for you: Akane, a character you will meet later in the story. I drew her first in 2002, while living in Korea.
